DHF Wool Tops

HoggettsAll DHF tops are produced by experts in Yorkshire, being combed several times to ensure their quality.

No nasties to pick out, no waste, just pure spinning pleasure. See Customer's Comments for some reactions! The fleeces used to make our tops were shorn by experts in our own shed, and selected for quality before being sent off for processing.Green Sheep Meet The Rainbow

Our fine white top is now available through our distributors, by speedy air mail order to all countries!!  It is so pure and delicious that we reckon you could make angels' knickers out of it - for St. Michael perhaps - but if not for angels, then why not have fun making something for your own little cherubs or grand-cherubs to wear.

Dyed Top Dye it for fun (see pic at left for some we did) or spin as is, dye the finished yarn or just enjoy its whiteness - you'll love this top. We've had a good response from experienced feltmakers, too.

Sarah Lawrence who is our distributor at Craftynotions absolutely loves it, and she is a well-respected and incredibly talented feltmaker, who is fussy about what she uses.  Sarah discovered DHF tops, and never looked back...   Now she sells them in many glorious dyed colours as well as the original white...  see The Green Sheep Meets a Rainbow on this site.

How is that we offer you our tops with such confidence?

We do so because:

And if all that's not enough to convince you - well, order samples and just try them!!

TIPS FOR USING TOPS:  (OR SHOULD THAT BE 'TOP TIPS')

If you have only used raw wool before, you will find tops are a waste-free and easy, clean way to spin.  You can either break them into manageable lengths, say 12" to `18", and split each lengthwise into about eight strips to spin worsted or semi-worsted style - or break off shorter pieces and make each into a rolag to spin woollen style. If dyed first, you can of course either blend the colours on combs, or make rainbow batts. When dividing it up you will find it better to break it by hand, rather than cut it.

BULK SUPPLIES:

Craftynotions offer 10-kilo (22#) bumps of our fine white top, should you be seeking a real bargain.  Check their website for prices. They may be able to give you a discount on larger orders of dyed tops too, so enquire direct please.
